Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Answers to the most common questions about our fuel cost calculator, EV charging costs, and road trip budget planner.
How accurate are these mileage and
fuel/energy consumption calculations?
expand_more
TripiCalc provides an accurate estimate based on standard math, but real-world factors like heavy traffic, your driving style, extra weight, and weather will always affect your actual mileage. It’s always best to add a small 5-10% buffer to your final budget just to be safe.
Does this calculator work for
Electric Vehicles (EVs)?
expand_more
Absolutely. TripiCalc features a dedicated Electric Mode. You can input your vehicle’s consumption in kWh per 100km (or miles) and the price per kWh. It’s a perfect tool for estimating EV charging costs for long-distance travel.
What is "charging efficiency" and
should I enable it?
expand_more
Charging an electric vehicle usually involves about a 10–15% energy loss between the grid and your car's battery. TripiCalc includes a 15% energy loss by default to give you a more realistic cost estimate that fully covers your final bill. If you'd rather see the raw numbers without this, just turn the Charging Efficiency toggle off.
Is the map preview useful for
measuring distance?
expand_more
Yes, the map preview link takes you straight to Google Maps so you can quickly see your route's exact distance. Once you know the total kilometers or miles, just plug that number back into TripiCalc to see your final cost.
Can I switch between Metric and
Imperial units?
expand_more
Yes, you can easily swap between Metric and Imperial systems at the top of the page. The app will automatically switch between kilometers to miles and liters to gallons based on your current preference.
